The Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada (TCF Canada)

The Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada (TCF Canada) is a test of general French, recognized as an official proof of language proficiency by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency applications and for the purposes of economic immigration or for obtaining Canadian citizenship.

The TCF Canada consists of 4 modules designed to evaluate your level of proficiency in the French language:

• Compréhension orale Listening:           35 min      –        39 questions
• Compréhension écrite  Reading:             60 min      –       39 questions
• Expression orale    Speaking:           12 min       –       3 subjects
• Expression écrite  Writing:             60 min               – 3 mandatory topics

TCF Certificate

Your TCF certificate is valid for a limited period of two years. After this time has passed, your certificate will no longer be valid.

Benefits

TCF Canada is on the list of the approved French language tests. You believe that you are good in the French language so you must give the TCF Canada French test because it gives you extra 50 CRS points  If you are applying for an immigration program within the Express Entry system such as Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), or Federal Skilled Trades Program or Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and you have a TCF result, you can include it in your online application to get Canada PR faster and easily.

Repeat the test

You can take the TCF Canada as many times as you would like. However, you must wait 30 days between each try.

How to get the Certificate

Your results will be sent to the testing center within 15 working days starting from the day the CIEP receives the test session material. You must collect your certificate at the center where you took the TCF Canada.

Please note: You will only be issued one original copy of your certificate. It is thus advisable to keep an extra certified copy of your certificate.
